LIV Golf wants ranking points for their tour

Greg Norman desperately wants the LIV Golf Tour to be the dominant tour for golf.

Now that LIV has paid some golf stars to come over and play their tour, they are trying to attract more golfers and the only way they will be able to do that is have LIV get world ranking points so players can qualify for the four golf majors.

Without world ranking points, LIV will have a hard time attracting other players to join their tour.

“We’re actually putting in our application probably over the weekend – if not Monday – and it’s a very compelling application. We’ve worked very, very closely, with the technical committee understanding all the components of what you need to apply for it.”

LIV CEO, Greg Norman

The OWGR (Official Word Golf Ranking Board) will make a decision soon to see if it will allow ranking points. The OWGR board is comprised of the following board members:

  1. Augusta National
  2. The DP World Tour
  3. The PGA Tour, the R&A
  4. The PGA of America
  5. The USGA
  6. The International Federation of PGA Tours.
